PURPOSE AND HISTORY
The Japan Promotional Marketing Institute (JPM) is an incorporated association established in November 1969 and approved by the former Ministry of Trade and Industry (currently Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry) in February 1990. In April 2012, it was officially registered as a general incorporated association.
Through surveys, research, workshops, exhibitions, awards, etc. related to promotional marketing (a comprehensive planning and execution system that directly motivates purchases, such as retail presentations, purchase reward planning, and means of communicating with customers), we will develop promotional marketing activities soundly, make it easier for consumers to choose products, and contribute to the development of the industrial economy and the improvement of people’s lives.
An association that promotes the establishment of “sound” promotion together
On April 1, 2012, our association selected and registered to be a “general incorporated (non-profit) association” under the new public interest corporation system. This was due to the judgment that the enhancement of services for association members should be given the highest priority. Specifically, the reason for our existence to “deepen” our expertise and “expand” our business domain was the choice that could be achieved most accurately.
However, these changes were due to changes in regulations, and there is no change in the “association’s mission” that we have and should continue to aim for.
We aim not only for the effectiveness and efficiency of corporate activities, but also for “promotional marketing” activities that truly provide convenience to consumers. We are aiming for a long-lasting promotion with a view to the brand taking root in our daily lives, rather than knowing if it sells for the time being and if it is bought. Our goal is to establish a “new” promotion that realizes a “sound” promotion that truly penetrates the market.
We are an association that promotes the formation of realization ability (solution ability) of problem solving, not limited to intermediate problem process such as problem analysis and product recognition penetration. Producing sales promotion materials is not the end of the process, but we are an organization that works together to “solve” issues and strengthen our solution capabilities to steadily realize them.

|2004||Under the Vocational Skills Development Promotion Law, an accredited vocational training school, currently known as “JPM Business School” was approved.|
|2005||Launched “Promotional Marketer Qualification Certificate” program.|
Conducted the first “Promotional Marketer Certification Qualification Test”
|2007||Established Japan Promotional Marketing Society.|

|2021||“JPM POP Creative Awards” will be presented during the 50th Japan Promotional Marketing Show from October 27 (Wed) to 29 (Fri) at Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsucho-kan.|
To revitalize the industry as a whole, we are developing the following five programs in the promotional marketing area as pillars.
As an open college, we accept a wide range of general attendance and offer three courses for human resource development, including skill-up courses (4 courses excluding JPM Overseas Training Tours) that have been approved for vocational training courses under the Vocational Skills Development Promotion Law.
The “Promotional Marketer” is a new profession with a bird’s-eye view of marketing activities. This is Japan’s only SP Professional Skill Certification program that aims to develop human resources with the knowledge and abilities that will lead the next generation of SP services.
3) Awards and Exhibition
The JPM Show has been held every fall since 1971 as the largest event of the association. The “JPM POP Creative Awards” is the main theme, and the “JPM Planning Solution Awards”, “Young POP Creative Awards”, and “Sales Promotion Trade Fair” are also include. This is an event where the forefront of promotional marketing professionals in Japan meet, and many from overseas also visit.
The “JPM POP Creative Awards” is an international POP award licensed by the Shop! OMA Awards, which Gold winners can enter the “Global Awards”, and the winners of the “JPM Planning Solution Awards” of the promotion planning contest can enter the “Globes Awards”.
4) Japan Promotional Marketing Society
The Japan Promotional Marketing Society builds and supports the foundation for the next generation by providing academic societies and research grants that promote promotional marketing research through industry-academia collaboration. The main members are researchers from universities and various research institutes, practitioners involved in sales promotion activities, and certified promotional marketers.
5) Research and Publications
We conduct surveys and research related to promotional marketing, compile information and materials, publish various survey reports, specialized information magazines, etc., and send information both inside and outside association.
